This job was an absolute pleasure to work on. The homeowner, Bud H. showed excellent taste in the finishes he chose for the master bathroom and patios. Because the material was high quality, it was nice to work with and went in flawlessly. With the retro black and white marble mosaic installed on the floor and white subway tile chosen for the shower walls, the bathroom was a showstopper.
The front patio presented a challenge due to the fact the slab was pitched for drainage, and the thresholds for the French doors were over an inch higher than the concrete. I pitched the floor on both sides of the patio so the slate was a tight fit under the thresholds and was able to hide the slope created by the floating.
The biggest challenge on the back patio was fighting the Phoenix heat. The temperatures reached 115 degrees, and there was absolutely no shade. Combined with the excessive float work, there were definitely a few long days. The saltillo Mr. H was able to find was a perfect match, and overall, the job turned out nicely.
